hi have first work with viacad 6 and 10.
now i must updatet to viacad 15.
so i make a circle with 60mm, than safe in vc3 and dxf for lasercut.
second open the file comes not 60mm, comes 1531mm and 38903mm. but i have no change the size.
Does a scale need to be changed somewhere? If so, where can I find it and what needs to be changed?
thanks ale

i mean yes. i have startet yesterday with 60.3 diameter circle. than safe in vc3 mode is it occasionally correct. in dxf is more than 38000mm. i understand this not.. However, the ratio is perfect even in this size. why did that change?

If I save a new file as vc3, the unit and measurement are correct again when I open it. I save as dwg or dxf for example it is 25.4 x more. but the default settings are set to mm and when exporting to dxw or dwg it is also set to mm. :(

If you open the dxf in a text editor like notepad you can check if it's saved as metric or not. If it is metric then there's a problem with the importer. Wouldnt be the first time....

Hello and thank you for the answer.
Now in notepad I can't find any information about the dxf being in metric like you did. I just tried again to draw a circle with 60mm and then export it as a dxf. After opening it again, the language was changed from German to English and everything was set to inches again. Then I closed it without saving and then everything was back to mm and German as set.
At the same time, the circle in the DXF is not saved as 60mm but as you can see as 1524mm.
How can that be and where is the error? The support from Punchcad itself seems to be awfully bad to me.
What do I have to do?

I tried to reproduce your problem with SharkCAD Pro 15, but there the export and import to DXF in metric units works flawlessly. I also tested the import with other CAD software, and it worked without any issues.
OS: Windows 10 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 | RAM: 32 GB | Graphic: AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 | SharkCAD 15 Pro | Unit: mm

If someone speaks German and can help me then also in German. I've been trying to solve the problem for a day but I just can't seem to get it right. Every time I export to DXF or DWG it is saved x 25.4 larger. Except in the VC3 file it stays as it should. It's also strange that every 2-3 times the program starts in English and not in German as set in the default settings. That's why it always sets it back to inches. sollte jemand deutsch sprechen und kann mir helfen dann gern auch auf deutsch.

1524/25.4 = 60 seems like a translation error. Is there an export option to select units? I can't remember. I tend to use the oldest dxf/dwg version whenever working in dxf files. A lot of software just isn't UK to date and there can be an issue between the versions as well. Try using autocad 2000 for the export if that's an option?

it seems to be the case, even old DXF files that I have saved are always displayed 25.4 times larger. I had drawn these correctly using Viacad 10 back then. it must be something in the settings (if I remember correctly, I had to change something in version 10 at the beginning so that it would display correctly). but unfortunately I can't remember what or how. but the problem that it is no longer in German when restarting and all the default settings are also gone is new to me. And the support is catastrophic. They advertise 24/7 and I haven't had an answer since last Thursday.

I'm still on V14 and have had issues like this in the past.
In 14 preferences are very flakey, things often don't stick.
I always do a quick check to see that I'm working in metric.
I then check that in the inspector panel under value, then standards I have my settings selected.
Lately every time I start a new project or load an old job it defaults to ANSI.
I think windows upgrades cause a lot of the problems because it used to work but something changes whether its the graphics drivers or windows upgrades, I don't know.
Just a thought,
Perhaps try and export or save as a v10 file.
And see what it does when you reopen it.
Might be a workaround for now and hopefully they fix it.

Hello thanks for the reply Well I tried exporting under version 10 vc3, this was then exactly 60mm, then exported to dxf and opened again. unfortunately the result is again 1524mm. I also have an old file that has been opened for two years as a dxf, and everything is displayed 25.4 x larger, even though the settings are under metric and mm. It really sucks, I should definitely finish something since the customer is waiting for it. but you don't hear anything from this company. I also have the problem with ANSI, even though I saved DIN. Every few restarts it is set to English and all the settings from before are lost.

Hi Ale. Because its v15 I cant open your files as I use v14. Another random thought. If you are trying to rescue your files, Could you use the scale tool? Draw a 60mm line, select all to be scaled and scale it to the 60mm line.
