I have drawn something using lines, and I can not Extrude and my guess the lines are not joined. All the other programs I have used, had a way to connect lines as Edit Polyline and so on. I examine the corners all are joined by using the Zoom Box command as close as I can get?

So where is the Join lines function?

Yes If I just draw a box or circle those can be Extruded.

hi, join lines is "join curve" see picture.

which error message do you get? maybe your lines are not coplanar (not in the same plane)?

The curve joining tool is not so good when circles in the construction. It will then create alot of useless data and also the solids will then be much bigger and just wrong, because it will be splines and where splines not needed is this just to much. Use better the edge tool.
Sometimes it's better to create first a cover surface.

No curves, no circles just lines that I want to Join together. The Join Curves comes up, and the cursor changes then asks for tolerance it defaults to .01 and I am drawing in mm. I can not select anything? Even when I change to .1 mm. I am drawing in 2D mode and that is usually what I always do and then Extrude into what I want.

I guess Shark and Via CAD make here no difference between curves and lines, and it change lines in splines. To join Lines use just the Edge trimming and the curve longing tool. (sorry i installed today a top secret german version and removed all english versions of the program and now i dont know the english names.....

Once again, when I Zoom in on the corners.... there are no gaps, no over laps and they look connected, But they must not be because I can not Loft or Extrude by selection, YET I can do so on circles, boxes and the like Polygons. Or positive SNAP to endpoints. How tough can it be to select with a crossing box or otherwise and Join Lines?

Join will merge two curves into one curve. The resulting curve is G2 continuous (no sharp turns).

An exception to the above is joining two or more lines. Joining two or more lines will create one polyline that preserves sharp turns.

Can you post your closed curves that do not extrude?

I am going to post the file. Seems to be a lot of confusion, its just made from Lines not circles or curves.

Hmm do not see a way to attach files. Ok after you Select Post its there....

It seems to extrude fine using Extrude Solid and Extrude Surface. What extrude tool are you using?

Push/Pull on Face but what I really wanted was the 360 Lathe around the long side with the notch on the bottom. Yes I tried the Extrude Solid and that worked? Like your #3 picture / screen shot. I wanted it upright 360 Deg like making a cone and I did one in Fusion 360 to make a 3D printed Cone for my laser rotary attachment to engrave mugs or cups. The little notch was sized for a steel round bar. Ok here is my Work Around, I drew a line parallel to the axis I wanted to Extrude around, so now I have a hole in the middle of the Cone, but it worked.
The second or bottom file here (final) was done using a Construction line and the line deleted. No hole now...

in your original file i found your lines are grouped. i did a ungroup on the lines, then it worked with the lathe tool

The simplest way of dealing with mismatched curves like this is to select the point at the end of one curve and place it on the end point of the other curve. It should snap into place.

Mismatched point with constructed curves seem to be a persistent error, maybe it is caused by something like a rounding error.

I Grouped and Un-Group result the same, Tim used my first file and did what I was trying to do without an issue. My end result using the same file was to use a Construction line like I stated. No miss matched curves sorry.

Attaching end result screen shot. What I was trying to do was the Lathe rotate fill. The bottom shows the hole I needed for the round shaft I needed to mount the Cone.

Don't use the Push/Pull Tool, this works sometimes not.
If it say it have gaps, and you use the Cover surface tool to create a ground-surface, it works. The Surface can you also rotating and extruding.

Please, please read my response above. I had No Errors it would just not work. I have used Push-Pull many time.... the Answer in this case was a Construction line and then the 360 Lathe fill around it, then it was deleted. The file I posted below is the one I created the image from!

This program is hands down the ViaCAD 2/3D is best 3D program I have used. It is perfect for what I do, 3D printing and perhaps something for my two lasers.

I used your original file and could not use the rotate solid tool to rotate around one side of the object unless I ungrouped it as rokoko stated above. As a test, I drew a simple rectangle using the polygon tool to make sure all corners were good and everything was coplaner and I got the same result. In order to rotate about one side of the rectangle using the lathe tool I had to use a construction line as a reference line for rotation or convert the polygon to lines and then rotate around one of the sides. So it looks like your original profile shape is okay, you just can't rotate around a line that is grouped with the profile. I learned something.

I really think the issue with the OEM file was the notch for the hole in the final product. Once I added the construction line for the Rotate Axis all was fine. The OEM file question was why could I not Push-Pull as I have used that function many times before. Anyway the file now is what I needed. Thanks for all the help guys.
