hi all
Still using 14-day VC10 trial and really making ground...

Question about assembly workflow
Is there any performance degrading importing VC parts into an assembly as opposed to drawing within VC
I'm drawing a frame/bracket so i draw all the parts as separate VC files and then imported into an assembly VC file

A couple of other questions:
1. is there a toolbar for views? or make a custom?
2. can the base template be changed eg what VC uses as a new file
3, changing / mod linetypes in drawing sheet mode is a bit strange

heaps more to come

Andrew

Not that I'm aware.

>>1. is there a toolbar for views? or make a custom?

No however your asdfg keys are set up by default for quickly changing from right side, front, top, iso, trimetric views

>>2. can the base template be changed eg what VC uses as a new file
Yes, save a file as startup.dat and place in app folder.

Thanks Tim

Are dim styles, line types stored in startup.dat as well? (which folder is the file in?)

When I import a VC file (solid) into the main assembly and then move it into position, it seems to leave behind the profile that made the solid
What is the best way to fill in a hole cut into a solid eg drill hole not needed?

sorry for all the questions

Andrew

I usually extrude a circle the same or slightly larger than the hole diameter, and length if needed.
Move it to the depth of the hole or object.
Add the 2 solids.

most often you can use the "remove face" tool. make sure to select only the hole, not the solid
