I am using a trial version of ViaCAD Pro 9 on a Windows 8.1 PC. My trial is about up and I wanted to make sure things like this work before I purchase the product

I cannot figure out if I am doing something wrong or if this is a bug.

I create a cylinder and position it exactly where I want it then, using the Gripper, I try to rotate the object around the x axis and it jumps to a random location. The same happens if I enter the rotation amount.

in this example when I try to rotate it about 40 degrees it jumps from 0, 0, 0 to -4.333, 0, 18.675.

Am I doing something to cause this? How do I get this to stop happening?

Thanks!

I think there was a bug in one of the older builds. I will private email you links to the ViaCAD Pro beta.

Thanks again for your help!

I have been working with the beta version you sent (I did decide to purchase ViaCAD Pro) The beta version solved the jumping objects problem. However it seems to have introduced a new problem. When I am trying to extrude text, using the horizontal text tool, with the 1109 version it was not extruding all of the letters. I then tried with the beta version and it either extrudes all of the letters or I get an error:

"Draft and twist operation not allowed in wires from sheet bodies."

This only seems to happen when i try to extrude text string consisting of several words. I am not suing the wire or draft operations and I am not sure what I wire or a sheet body is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RJS

If you could post the vcp file that would be great. I have been doing some work with the extrude/cover wires algorithm.

I Attached the the VCP file. If you try to extrude the line that starts with "The Darkest" it will crash , at least on my system.

I am using the Century Gothic font. I am not sure if plotter is a type of font or a name of a font but I do not have any fonts called plotter.

I just tried with several other fonts. Some cause the draft and twist error and other cause a VC runtime exception error.

Thanks!

Thanks Randy for posting the file. I was able to repeat on Windows. The problem seems to be with the glyphs defined by that particular font type. There is a overlapping loop with the letter "i" in that font. On Mac the font is defined correctly so it does not exhibit the problem.

I added an auto repair algorithm for text fonts (removes small curves and reconnects gaps). It corrects the loop in the "i" as well as a few other in that font set. This is in the next 1146 build.

Thanks again Tim!

Is the 1146 build available? If so how do I get it?
