Scale Inconsistencies (#3866)

Someone on another website posed the problem of how to 'tangent fit' an ellipse into a parallelogram, so I thought I'd give it a go with ViaCAD, using an example that was put forward by a chap there.
His technique was to differential scale a circle into an ellipse, but it doesn't seem to be something that can be done as easily as it should be for us.
I've included a video to try and show how the behaviour of the Scale tool varies when used on curves compared to surfaces.
In short, I would have liked to scale one axis of the circle along the orientation path of the Gripper/Workplane, .
Martin.

Can't you just turn off 'uniform scaling' in the gripper inspector?

It is turned off in the video. The problem is that curves aren't scaled to align with the workplane/Gripper when is either is rotated.

The gripper works as expect as soon as it s realised that the circle is a special case of a circular arc, i.e. it has start and end points.

Thanks for sorting it out, Tim - it's much appreciated. Martin.
