How do I snap to an extruded tube shape?

Can you post a screenshot of what you are describing?
Is this tube shape one you extruded from curves you drew or did you use the tube tool?

Hmm. I had extruded the tube, from a 2D ring shape. I realised that there was an error in the part anyway, so I recreated it with the tube tool (which was also quicker) and I can snap to it fine.
