I've been using ViaCAD Pro since V5 on various Macbook Pros, currently running V6. When I upgraded to OSX 10.7 Lion I tested V6 and it seemed to run just fine. After experiencing some difficulties that resulted from having left over stuff from OSX 10.1 thru 6, I decided to do a clean install and reload all my software. While I know that Pro V6 at least starts up under Lion the installer balks so I can't reinstall. I tried a couple of months back to install a trial of Pro V7 and the installer stopped me again. At that point I started looking for a different solution and started running the free version of SketchUp on my Lion machine with an eye to buying the full version and continued with Pro V6 on an older Mac running 10.5 Leopard.

I am not interested in paying to upgrade to another program that I can't install. If Pro V7 will install and run under Lion and continue to be supported, I'll upgrade.

Sorry for the rant but I feel stuck with having to learn a new system. I tried to call customer support and was told that the system wasn't accepting calls.

Any help out there?
-Rob

what does this exactly mean? ...you should be more descriptive.

ViaCAD installers made prior the availability of OSX v10.6 may claim missing admin rights even under an admin account.

Fixing this needs to edit the "Contents:Resources:Installscript.plist" file inside the installer package. For doing this, right-click the installer package and select "Show package content" from the context menu. In the "Installscript.plist" file search for "Require Admin" and change value from "TRUE" to "FALSE", exit by saving.

A QuickTime video tut showing how to do this here.

A VC v7 installer should not be affected by this issue in general.

Sorry about the lack of detail.
I believe that you got the error correct for V6. I'll try your suggestion.
I think the error when I tried the V7 trial was incompatable OS. This was probably back in August or September of last year, just after Lion released. I will look again and see if I can download a new copy of the V7 trial. Stay tuned.
Thanks,

Oh I am a happy camper now. I'm back in business.
Thanks
