http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/candyfab I have been following this for a month or so. Basically it is a home made SLA type machine that uses sugar as the modeling medium instead of some super expensive plastic particles, and substitutes $10k lasers for a $10 heating element that fuses the sugar granules together.
