Regarding your parametric question at the end of you movie. This can be done with constraints and the variable/equations dialogue. I've been playing around with the constraints and setting forth dimensions relative to other dimensions. There's isn't much documentation on this and I've been playing around with it. This is an avenue to tackle setting forth different sizes on the go.
