I am working on a brand new installation of ViaCAD 2D/3D. I've just been practicing drawing silhouettes and trying to lathe them into 3D objects. I was able to do this a couple times, but was often getting "curves not planar" errors. To try and fix this I would draw a 2D spline and enclose it with 2 lines at a 90 deg. angle, then switch to 3d and try to lathe the object. After a couple attempts at this I started getting crashes with error messages that said,"ViaCAD has stopped working" and "Windows will notify you if a solution is available." Peppered in there were ACIS errors.

Now Whenever I use the spline tool, I get an "Access Violation" that activates when I move the mouse after clicking the first point on the spline. It will not go away and I have to kill ViaCAD with the task manager. Whenever I try to load a an existing drawing with a spline, ViaCAD displays that it is calculating curves and then displays the "ViaCAD has stopped working" message.

I tried a complete uninstall, reboot, and reinstall, but it must not uninstall cleanly, because right after the reinstall it goes back to the same behaviors.

Does anyone out there have any ideas for this ViaCAD noob?

I emailed the help desk a couple days ago and have not heard back.

What build of ViaCAD do you have? Let's check if you are on the latest build. The build number is displayed in the splash screen.

Private email me your splash screen and I'll send you links to a newer build of v7.

Did you receive my email with the attached splash screen?

Wishing you a happy 4th of July (if you are a US citizen, or even if you are not!). Thanks -

Brent.
