Hi,
It would be a big time saver if it was possible to paste multiple copies of the same object at selected points.
This could eg. be used on a list of points imported via the file import spline or points created with the Points Along Surface tool.
This could easily be done by adding a list item to the paste option dialog and in software implementing a loop around the paste operation iterating over the selected points..
See attached screen dump.
Kind regards
Danny

I suggested this some time ago. I do a lot of laser tracking work and I found that the BOM could be manipulated so it would read the c of g points of spheres. So import 3d points and add spheres to them (like you are saying)then read off their location and generate a BOM was really speedy. I was ignored. No real surprise but hey, not to worry :-)

Macro sounds like it should be able to do it, but how does it work? If you've got an object placed at the origin, Move Object_ID 0,0,0 x,y,z should be enough to put it where you want, but I've tried to use an instruction list with that syntax as an import format, nothing happens. There's no expansion of that in Tim's Tips & Tricks .pdf book.

In my VC Pro, as a test I just put cross-hair points all over. I just ctrl-C a selected object, select a point, ctrl-V and it puts object on vertex of the point. Spheres are centered on point.
If I do multi-select of points and paste sphere, it only pastes one copy of object.
If I change Paste mode to be "At Location" then I get the paste cross-hair with every ctrl-V.
Is this the question at hand?
edit: ahh, I think maybe the feature request is to have the "Paste At Location" to have a sticky ability so you can just keep clicking to keep pasting. Which would do the same thing as I wrote above, but with way less keystrokes/mouse. Some sort of sticky toggle for that Paste mode.

Hi,
This idea is to be able to do MULTIPLE paste operations with a single ctrl-V without further mouse click or keyboard interactions.
This could save a lot of time in the cases where the paste locations (points) are autogenerated or imported.
kind regards
Danny

Perhaps tricky though.
Given you may have existing points in the model, you may not want to paste an object to all the points, but rather a select few.
I guess one way (new feature) is you select all the points and one paste puts copy of object to all the selected points.
But maybe a 2nd paste option could be "paste to all points in model", and you just make sure that's what you want to do.

Agree :-) Sorry if I was unclear in my post above but it was what i attempted to write above with "paste multiple copies of the same object at selected points" except for the paste to all points It should take an hour or two to implement and test this feature in software. kind regards Danny
