Ever since I started using Via/Shark (several years ago) I've never had it tell me that a new version is available. I'm currently running a WIP build (1624 on Mac) if that makes a difference, although I haven't seen any updates from mainline builds either.

But at least I find that the WIP builds are stable and normally works good (at least on Windows).
