has anyone figured out how to export solid models from SharkCAD Pro to 3D-PDF? the PDF 3D viewer provides an expedient means to increase the number of people who can benefit from solid models beyond those with CAD capability.

You may use Simlab Composer or Reportgen PDF3D or SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author.
You are right: 3D PDF is fantastic to convince customers or potential clients.

Best wishes
G.

Hi Art,
It works with simple models, but your chances decrease as the model increases in complexity.
Make sure you enable viewing in Adobe Reader.

Thanks G.
I might give Simlab Composer a try on some complicated models.

the most professional solution is probably the 'Tetra4D Converter' (trial avail.) from the creators of the 3D PDF format.

They do provide the free 'Tetra4D Reader' for Android too.

Any object that can be imported into PunchCAD can be exported as 3D pdf, including NURB formats. The Tetra4D suite is probably the same, it's not a facility built into Acrobat. It used to be that 3D pdfs were almost compulsorily produced from .u3d mesh files, that doesn't apply any more. Adobe originally bought the NURBS conversion technology from a French company, built it in to Acrobat Pro for a few versions up to V10, then spun it out of Acrobat again, to become a companion suite from Tetra4D. From memory it used to be available through righthemisphere's Deep Exploration suite too, that's under some other corporate masthead now, the near-monopoly that those companies had is gone.
