Hi I am about to purchase viacad or sharkcad. If I have understand viacad dont generate 3d curves as curves
to 2d views, but uses instean polilines. ( shark does use curves? )

Can anyone show an examble how accurate the polyline generated "curves" are?

Thanks
Perttu

Hello Perttu

Yes that is accurate statement, SharkCad can generate precise curves in the 3d to 2d tools-line views. ViaCAD's 3d to 2d tools generate polyline views. These are accurate fitted polylines its not just a representation of the geometry its a fully accurate polyline so the geometry is fully accurate. The difference is you have a polyline vs a curve if you are using the geometry for drawings or documentation there is no difference.

I have attached a dxf that you can review. You can also download a trial version of the software for review.

Regards

Jason

Accuracy is relative to local curvature, not absolute. The picture shows point density of a half-scale polyline from sheet view vs. the original curve.
