Hi,
i am not new to ViaCad and already did some easy 3D Models for my 3D Printer. Creating Models by using geometric forms is pretty easy for me with ViaCAD, but now i have no idea how to solve this problem...
I have to make a mould for my new model submarine and i need to create these coverings. By using the original plans i am able to draw two 2D views from side and top view, but how can i put a "skin" over it to get these surfaces?

Have you tried starting with a simple mesh block ?

Pushing and pulling on vertices before converting to nurbs solid would likely give a good result in this case.

Perhaps start here: https://www.youtube.com/...inue=5&v=5wFNrl6s1Is

Hi Jol,
thanks for your answer. I tried it and these are fantastic possibilities. But this is no exact method to create the things i need with exact dimensions like the original. Or am i wrong?

Regards
Stefan

Do you have the 2D plans? I like a challenge!

Hello 17b

Just tried to rebuild it myself. If I interpret the pictures correct, it can be done with two extrtuded profiles and a lot of filleting.

I like complex shapes. It seems to me that SubDiv modeling fits best for this shape. But if you do not have a PowerPack Pro(mesh to solid), then probably it does not make sense.

If surface modelling, than it would be logical to separate the two objects. Then stitch them in one solid body. I've experimented a little bit with this method.

Net Surface tool could be another way too.

Wow, those pics are close to what i need.
I found some pics of an earlier and smaller model which i made some years ago. The caps were made by hand with a lot of grinding and putty. Now i want to mill them in 3D or print them.
