Having a bit of a stumbling block at the moment..

Bought VC 10 today, downloaded and installed. Unfortunately I may have some issue at my end that is not permitting the registration from being saved.

I'm running 10.12.6 on a macbook pro. Here is the error message I get after I register, and it says registration complete:

"Unable to save registration info for sysprefs"

Sounds like a permissions error maybe? Perhaps something quite simple..

I opened a support ticket and also sent a PM to Tim.. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from anyone yet, so if anyone else might know what to do please help.

Thank you Jason, I was able to call them and the tech guy is on vacation.

The other guy there did have some advice and stayed with me on the phone. Gave me a new SN and while it did say "Registration Successful", the next window that popped up again said reg info was unable to be saved. See image.

I tried changing permissions on the VC app to Read+Write for everyone, but to no avail.

Also, I can only try 3 times with the SN before it says I've reached the "maximum number of allowed activates"

Yes definitely a permissions issue. Are you admin on the machine?

Noted – that's what I thought that it was a permissions error. Yes I am logged in as admin.

I'm stuck....

What I've done so far:

– ensured that Library permissions are set to Read+Write for admin (as well as Application Support)
– re-registered several times with three different SN's provided by the help desk

each time VC pro 10 is registered, it is fine until I close it.

When I try to reopen the application, it asks for the registration file again.

At this point I have exhausted all my chances to use the serial numbers as they have a max. activation of 3x total.

They tell me that Tech support will be back next Tuesday from vacation, but I was hoping to get this working before then.

Hoping someone on here can shed some light on what I can try next.

Thank you.

Did you reboot the PC after installing and registering? I have seen where just closing the program and opening without rebooting right after successful registration causes it to not save registration.

I understand and thanks for the suggestion. I did try quitting and re-starting to no avail. I'm using a mac which usually works immediately after install+registration.

The problem happens immediately after I hit the register button. First a dialog box pops up that says Registration Successful. I hit the OK button on it. Immediately following that, a new window pops up that says "Unable to save registration info for sysprefs." I hit OK again and VC Pro 10 continues to open.

When I go to Preferences>Registration, I can see my name and the Serial Number.

But as soon as I quit out of VC and try to re-open it, the registration is indeed NOT saved and I am stuck being asked to fill everything out again to re-register.

hi, what you can try is to create an additional completely new user in system preferences -> users (new user with administrator permissions). then login as the new user and try to register again. hope that helps,

Can you private email me your Node Id from Preferences: Registration and I can manually create a serial number that should override the issue you are seeing.

If you are having problems registering an old product, I suggest you contact Encore support.
