This is 100% repeatable on my system.

Procedure:

Open attached file to see what it looks like:
View-Isometric
w

Now see what it looks like referenced:
Open Shark FX

File-Reference-Attach
(Select file attached to this message)

Hello Zircon,

I confirm reference does nothing with V9 b1224.

With V10 b1337 it is even worse (see my screen grab)...
Polygons seems to stretch to long distance...

Hi Zircon,
Could be a Mac issue, seems to work on Windows.

Jim,
Thanks for the confirmation. My issue is that items deleted from a file appear when it is used as a reference file. Did you also originally have some polygons in the referenced file that were deleted?

Larry,
This is most interesting. So in Windows the file looks exactly the same whether you open the file to edit or specify it as a reference for another file? I can't see the solids when I open the file to edit it. (Again, they did exist earlier but I deleted them after they'd served their purpose.) Are you also able to manipulate the solids?

Hi Zircon,
The 2 .jpgs only show the reference and attach, one is Shark9 and the other is Shark10.
If you open to edit, all you see are the rectangles and square outlines, no solids.
I cannot edit reference attach file.

Hi,

I tried it to open in ViaCAD 10 and also couldn't see a solid, only some edgepoints (?).
But after trying to convert it to a solid there is the message "nothing to convert" and the Top-View - a little bit set angular - shows this here:

Thanks, everyone.

Yes—the problem is that the solids seen when the file is referenced should not exist. They were all deleted at an earlier stage.
When I open the file to edit it, they do not exist. However, they do show up when the file is referenced.

I should have attached screenshots to my first post. I've done so now.

The first one is of the file as it looks like when opened to edit, and the way I expect it to look when referenced. It contains no solids.
The second one is the same file when referenced from a new empty file.

If anyone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong or what's happening I'd be most grateful.

I do notice that the "Reference" layer of the file attached to my first post contains 912 objects. It should only contain one—the vertical levels. Thus, I believe that the solids must be hiding in that layer. However, I can't find them. Perhaps if I delete that layer I can get rid of them. And yes, they did disappear once the layer was deleted.

I'd still like to know what would make this happen.

I have this problem also. It is incredibly frustrating! I attached a part and then edited the part by simply turning on some layers and updated the reference. That's when all these anomalies showed up. The sweep lines appeared along with several copies of a fuse holder that I only attached once but ended up moving around several times. I hide the sweep lines in the part but they still show up with the referenced part. The additional fuse holders are not in the part, only the referenced part.
