OK, viacad has been bought by Encore Software ?
what does this mean to existing users of viacad?
so 2 questions.
1- when can we expect a new version of vicad to be released ?
2- what is the price going to be to upgrade ?
thanks
Victor

Hi Victor.

I'm replying to you. :-)

According to this website here;

http://www.punchcad.com/products/viacad2d3d.htm

There is a all singing all dancing new upgrade to SIX available NOW! Huzzah!
 Confused?, you soon will be baby! Have you got a link to this new upgrade- not that I'm upgrading now or later, it just would have been nice to have been told in a general post where the path for this upgrade lies.
;-)

Hello,
What do you know, someone else is interested :)
Here is the link I got my information from.
http://www.punchcad.com/products/viacad2d3dV7.htm
I have ver 5 of the 2D/3D I have been waiting for ver 7 But I was under the impression that you could upgrade any version to the current for $19.00
So I was shocked when I saw $49.00 for upgrade.
I belive that the pro is also $49.00, I don't know about any of the others.
I'm also confussed after following your link.?

Gods, the trial release/availability was so quiet! I was so excited i inadvertently clicked on the V6 Pro hoping the URL was mislabled. It took maybe 2 hours (about 7kbps to 24 kbps, the about halfway thru, i managed to get 90 to 154 kpbs) to get 2D/3D.

I fired it up this AM and it CRAWLED. My system probably has other issues, but it took minutes to start, and then closing the open dialog (i forgot 2D/3D won't open .vcp, so i tried to close that dialog) and it crawled. I mulled task-killing VirtualBox, but didn't want to trash windoze's history of my open folders. Finally, i restarted (normally) win7 (in VBox, which is working fine for me) and this time, VCP was crawling. Just opening, not even dealing with a huge file. Might be something in one of the recent Linux-related patches.

Anyway, i'm looking forward to VCP 7's trial. I am not so anxious that i'm going to save-as multiple 30mb files to .vc3, though.

Anyone else get to try it out heavily? What things do you like? Not like?

My apologies. I thought that VC2D/3D 7 trial would not open VCP files.

I just found out that it will. And, after rebooting my system and changing some things (like windoze' power settings) win got faster. Can't believe i had been a non-optimal setting in win7 for some time now.

VC 7 still looks good value at $99 but the upgrade price is a big jump! Way to go Encore!

I want to go straight to VCP 7, not to 2D/3D. Mainly it's because when i open VC 2D/3D Trial and see some missing tools that Pro has, i feel i will not be able to do some solids and surface work i've become accustomed to.

Also, I copied over from my VCP install various setting that nicely came over to VC 2D/3D Trial. There is a sys or ini file that even brought over my list of "recent files". Was that so before? IF so, then i forgot that was possible.
