Tim, Maybe it's me, but I find the current scissors/ trim tools really hard to use. In Solidworks there is a cutting tool that simply highlights entities between any points or intersection, allowing one to simply delete these 'pieces' of the drawing. Is it too difficult to provide this kind of tool in the trim palette? Tom

Hello Tom Not sure if you've already tried this workaround but there's no reason why you can't do a select all before selecting the trim tool and then it will operate very much as you describe, all geometry becomes trim boundary. All the best Nick

so many programs are going in the direction of giving the user more direct onscreen feedback prior to operations. This is another situation where even with the current functionality of the tool, if it were to highlight the section of the curve it was about to delete/split it would help. This would be especially powerful for the region trim tool. Perhaps highlighting curves to remain and dimming curves to be deleted. I also agree it would be a big improvement if the editing tools did not require pre-selecting geometry and had a certain degree of inference with results shown prior to the operation through dimming and highlighting (perhaps complicated but worth exploring). I agree, this tool is just not right. I appreciate the insight. This is one of those things that bothers me every day. I would like to see new ideas explored. I like the "cutting tool highlighting the part" idea. I use this often enough that simply a key held down to turn the cursor into a cutting tool would be fantastic! Would that work? The other nice thing about the SolidWorks tool is that it has an option that you just hold-click and drag the cursor around and it deletes the pieces that you draw a path over - very useful for deleting a lot of overlapping lines!

Hey up Nick! :)
I haven't tried this 'workaround', but I will do- now I've got some more time to play with VC.
Everybody else's suggestions look really great too! Thanks :D

Heh! Yes that works well- but why not just have that functionality anyway, without having to select all?
