Tim,

I'm finally getting the hang of sketching in VC. Like Jol said, the approach is very different to the structured way of sketching in software like Solidworks, but in a way, sketching in VC is more powerful, although it can get rather confusing- very confusing in fact, trying to figure out what direction you are taking, especially when you can't see the tiny spidery axis lettering at the bottom left hand corner, and your Triad is hidden by a plethora of open tool windows too!

This is where I'd like to suggest the possibility of the current, being sketched line, changing colour- corresponding to which axis it is being drawn at. The colour change isn't permanent, just momentary. If you have ever used Sketchup, you will know where I am coming from :)

(And fatten up that Axis too!! Please!?! ;) ) :D

Blender3D handles that the same way - when you want to lock something into the X, Y, Z axis, you hit the coordinated key on your keyboard and a faint construction line comes up in line with the object being moved. In fact, this sight line is a bit brighter than the grid axis color, where the x-axis is red, the sight line is more of a pink.

Further, they allow you to lock to the local XYZ axis by hitting X twice, Y twice, etc.

FYI.

Yes, freeform repositioning would be very cool. Even a floating window?

I think just keep it simple for the time being .. Tim can add bells later if necessary.

Presently it's disfunctional - as it is in all likelyhood covered by a dialog box

In prefs .. pick a corner !

That's simple

....and make it fatter with more visable X, Y and Z markings !! ;) Please?! :D

(Also still being able to see the triad too, through the solid, would also be smashing!)
