I'm running into a problem when it comes to the Trim Solid tool and losing certain interception pieces. here is the deal. Check out this youtube video -- a French guy is creating a connecting rod. And with ease he picks the Trim Solid tool, picks the outer circle (part) as the trim solid then picks the main rod part to trim from. My problem is, I cannot duplicate this, the area inside the trim object (outside circles) always remains and is still connected to the main rod with a void where the trim solid was.

He seems to make a point about changing colors of the three objects, I've tried everything save the correct way obviously to duplicate this. Would be grateful for some help here. I uploaded the XF file I'm using, saved it to v7

Thanks,
P

Hello.

I only have ViaCAD Pro ...

So i played around a little bit.

ViaCAD V7 Pro on Windows XP trims correct ... :)
ViaCAD V8 Pro on Windows XP trims NOT correct :(

Will report Bug to PunchCAD via BUG Reporter.

Maybe you guys do the same (to urge them do something about this ...).

Was able to in v6, not in v8. But sometimes I can not trim a solid or surface with v8. I really want to know how to drag the line maintaining tangent. That looked useful!

If the connecting beam's (the material between the bearing eyes) profiles are lifted a minute amount (.0001" works), the action works as in the youtube vid. It worked out of the box in (VCP)V6 for me, but not in (FX)V7 or V8, I don't know what that says about the respective versions.

I have another ViaCAD Pro 9 beta going up this weekend. The v9 builds are quickly stabilizing at this point.
