I'm working in VC's 3D mode. I'm viewing from the Front and reposition a part on the X and Z axis. When I change the view to Top, why has my part moved on the Y axis? My Workplane is set to Global.

I used a 2D CAD program, for years, but Workplane is new to me. Are there any tutorials about Workplane. I think it might be my problem, but I don't understand it.

Thanks
Colin

Hi Colin,

The easiest way is to set the snapping (windows- snaps) to workplane while moving the object. I use that a lot and have set up a shortcut key to toggle it on/off (File- short cuts- snap- work plane).
When moving in just one direction you can use the axis constraint by pressing the relevant key (X/Y/Z), although I have seen that wonder off some times.
