I had to knock this together for a customer to go with the prototype that I've already built that's now headed to the end user. Standard rendering to file, with a yellow gradient background to give it a bit more warmth.

The sheet metal part started out as a shelled tub, and I faked the rips to make it look a bit more realistic.

I could put a lot more details in, including fans, connectors and fasteners, but it isn't necessary for the time being. The yellow chromate colored housing has wall, pocket and hole features in the interior that are worth finishing as I can use it later for machining, though I covered it with a lid for this rendering.

Excellent! Are you using ViaCAD V6 or one of the other Punch applications?

SharkFX 5.5

Since I posted, the project has been in limbo while the electronics is being sorted (RF issues), so I haven't put any more time into the models or renderings. It looks like I'll need to machine another housing next week, and then finish up the mechanical design w/drawings for the customer. With a little luck, I'll update this and render it in Maxwell after Thanksgiving.

Hey Tom- good one on the sheet metal FX :)

I tried doing Sheet metal with VC, in the end I gave up :(

I know Tim is aware that we want these tools- I also understand how hard it would be to implement them. I suppose all I can do is wait.....

Yeah, I posted this as an example of SharkFX sort-of-but-not-sheetmetal capabilities. I'm thinking version 6.0 will be good to us.

SFX 6? Yes. I really beleive that this software will fly off the shelves if it had sheet metal tools. Why? Because of the Catia tools already present, the parametric constraints, and the superbly good value for money.

I suppose we'll have to wait?

I've been very busy of recent- I do miss the forums.

One nice perk of this job is that my boss bought me an iPhone last week! Hoorah!

I'll take a pic of the Dassault offices and post it here (I'll try to remember for tomorrow. )
