Hi There,

I have a problem with 'opening up' a solid. for eg

I have a simple cylinder which I have shelled. I then want to remove the top face of the resultant solid so I can re-size, non-proportionally, the inner surface, then re-stitch it all back together. Can I do this in ViaCAD. Is there a way to 'explode' the faces of a solid, edit them, and stich 'em back?

actually this is to scale the inner surface of a bottle so it's thicker at bottom, but the cylinder example illustrates the problem easier.

thanks
Roger

To explode a solid, go to : Edit menu---Change object type---Surfaces

To change the thickness of a selected shell element, go to the history tree (tab in layer palette), select the shell feature, and change in the info dialog (data).
Hope it helps,
JL

In Concepts Unlimited you can modify each surface thickness independently with the concept explorer. I'm not sure about Viacad.
