Perhaps it's time to consider again the scope of our user forum

I know we've bought it up before .. but I can't see a reason why we don't have some kind of 'lounge' area on the forum.

This would help users and students alike learn, specifically target those beginning with the products, get general advice, discuss or compare hardware requirements (perhaps with a cinebench type benchmarking tool - look at the attention that's commanded), find design competitions, find design or CAD support, find design or software shows, discuss products and talk (cr@p) / about fringe subjects - not to mention .. foster the community generally

Thoughts ?

Here's an example of some consumer design.

And the lounge might be used to discuss annoying quirks in such an area. Here's my list of annoyances: Some of these may be a result of being a beginner and not understanding the program.

(1) After making a primitive, I often get a second (and sometimes third) primitive while entering size dimensions because I forget to select the pointer before entering dimensions.

(2) Inability to measure out my part without using the explode curve command.

(3) 2-point circle (both points on diameter) doesn't use the first selected point as the non-moving point when dimensioning a size for the circle; it uses the center, so the first point wanders.

(4) No extend tool? Must I create a line beyond what I want and use the corner trim tool, then the regular trim?

(5) I keep thinking Esc should get me a pointer tool and deactivate whatever tool is currently in use like other programs, and when I start pointing around, damage happens (but easily undoable).

(6) Can't save layer view-state.

Yes- I did recommend a 'schmooze' section some while back.

Good one Jol, for bringing it up again :)

Yep - that'd make a big difference - even if it's just common routines like faceting etc that get multitask aware to begin with

Would be grate if opening and saving were 4 times faster. My current project file is over 200 mb and takes forever.
