Clearly there's a problem with too many products here - you're confusing me !

Not only do we have 3 versions of Shark as professional tools - but we have 3 versions of ViaCAD.

(Does that mean that ViaCAD is not for professionals ?)

Did the guy that does your marketing organise Windows XP ?

Then because we have so many variants - the overhead to keep them all up to date affects how much general development time there is available - does it not ?

So - why don't we have less products - and keep them all at the same version number ? - or is how it's being done making some sense to the marketing dept and therefor everybody else has to lump it ?

for me simpler = better

It's not the number of variants that I find confusing, just that they aren't all updated together.
If they all use a subset of the same codebase, then why can't they all be released together, after the most feature-rich version has been developed?
I suppose I'm only looking at it in simple terms, but isn't it just a matter of leaving out features as you go down the scale - forgetting about updates to the user manual etc?

Martin.
