Ok,
So I need to model the attached image. Is Shark/ViaCAD even the right tool to model this? Is it going to be like using a dull butter knife to peel an apple (it can be done, but it easier with a sharp knife!)
Should I be looking at another CAd/3D package?

I advise you to use a polyedric modeler to create organic models.

Cinema4D
Hexagon
Modo
Cheetah
Blender
ZBrush
Carrara
Lightwave
XSI

Hello,

No problem to convert the mesh into a solid.

Warning!
1 - if the mesh is heavy ==> composed of many facets, the conversion amount will be very long.

2 - check that the mesh has no holes.

see my demo:

and demo with V.7 ===> fantastic with gripper tool

it would be impressive if you could add in the future, polyedrics tools as: smoothing algorithm

my camel have .... just ... accident:p

Antoine,

I gave it a go in Shark last night, but as you suggested, I am building in C4d and will import into Shark ( a small test 1st!). I just don't have enough control in Shark (or expertise).

Thanks for your examples!
