Why does ViaCAD allow importing jpeg, but not Shark 5? Or am I missing something???

Ahhh...Shark FX, not Plain Shark.., but does not make sense why ViaCAD(less featured product) can import Jpegs?

That's silly. If VC has it, everything should have it.

I would not upgrade from VC to Shark if I would lose that capability.

I have checked with SFX only but assume, that the recent builds of SRK as well as SLT do support a JPEG import too.

of course... because it depends on the the used revision and not on the product line.

What exact Shark version/build are you using?

From the Menu of Shark v5 "current version" option(in OSX 10.6.2):

"You are running the most current version of Shark. Your current build number is 750."


Still no Jpeg in "Import.." Dialog box. Shark Imports everything and more EXCEPT JPG. Just compared it to ViaCAD.

The V7 beta will import JPEG, PNG, TIFF and a bunch of other formats. It's free, and pretty stable. If JPEG import is a big deal on your current project, it might be worth going installing the beta. The work around would be to convert your files to PNG with preview (if you are on a Mac). Its an extra step, but will solve your problem short term.

exactly, latest build of version 5.0, not v5.5 => upgrade

I can find no info on a Shark 5.5 version. It seem there IS a Shark FX 5.5 version?
