The two commands I use the most, that don't exist in viacad are:

1) Mirror about a plane

2) Rotate about a line

The work around in Viacad, of course, is to orient the the work plane appropriately, and then mirror about a line, or rotate about a point.

If you could add that functionality to viacad that would be great.

If you'd like to see some screen shots let me know. I'll get them up on Sunday evening or Monday.

Mike...

P.S. I don't want to mirror about an infinite plane, that would be defeating the purpose(still adds an extra step). I would like to be able to select an existing plane, either the x or y or z, or 3 points, or 2 lines.

Hi, Mike

Did you try the options in the drop down menu at the top after you select the object to mirror, it has mirror about xy,yz,xz,3 points in addition to the 2 points? Is that what your are looking for or something else?

You're right Jason, I never noticed that. Thanks. That makes Viacad a whole lot more powerful than I thought. There's still a couple options missing. I'll post that info on Sunday.

Okay, here's the screenshots I promised.

To rotate something about a line... pick "transform" -> "rotate about a line"

and then pick existing line...

and then pick the plane...

the important ones (at least to me) are:
3 points ~ already in viacad
2 lines
plane of object
plane of csys
existing plane
and of course, the principle planes ~ already in viacad
