hi there...
im a new user of Viacad 2d/3d, and im trying real hard to learn how to use nurbs (so much years of polygon modeling :p). Even after i read the manual, im still lost sometimes, so im asking for help.

1 - if i project a curve to a surface, with the option to embed the curve into the surface, can i delete the projected part, leaving a hole in place? (see image question1)

2- im trying to model the shape as seen in image 2 (in the left a right view, showing the profile i used). How can i made that parte with thickness (solid) to use booleans later? In the way i did (revolving a profile), i cant use thickness enough to my needs, as it gives me errors.... i tried skin solid, but it gives me a rounded surface, and i need those sharp corners...

sorry if the question seens stupid, but im new to nurbs, and cant figure out everything just by the manual. Also, forgive my bad english, but im brazilian :p

thanks in advance

ViaCAD does not support a trim surface command but you can perform the task using the project/imprint tool as you noted.

http://www.csi-concepts.com/Dem...es/ViaCADTrimSurface.mov

ViaCAD Pro/Shark supports a dedicated trim surface tool that is associative.

Hope this helps

Hi, mvotre

Welcome to the forum! Item number 2 what shape exactly are you looking for in your final object? I enclosed a file and picture or several ways to make what I think you might be looking for, check it out and see which one you are looking to create.

Jason

If your are looking for something like this:

UserPostedImage

I used a closed profile and then the "lathe solid" command.

Hope this helps a bit or two.

thanks guys..
the lathe solid was the answer.. how i couldnt see it?? :(
well, at least im moving. im posting a cheap and quick render of the "finished" piece. i couldnt blend some edges, but im sure it was due to my bad model, and not some software flaw

by the way, im pretty sure i will have some other questions later. Should i create a new thread, or just post on this one? Can i change the title of the thread later??

thanks in advance
