curious: Is/was there ever a connection between Ashlar Vellum and Punch?

I have a demo of Ashlar Vellum's Cobalt and it's interface is nearly identical to Shark.

thx.

Hi,

This is a quote made by Tim Olson (current developer of VC/Shartk)

Quote:
In 1996 I licensed distribution rights of CADD Pro to Ashlar who resold as Vellum Solids, Neon, Argon, Xenon, Cobalt. Around 2003 I licensed Ashlar a copy of the source code such that they could start up their own development efforts. So after 2003, the code branched between Ashlar and CSI.

That's very interesting I had no idea. No wonder the operations appear identical. I do much prefer Shark though. For some reason I found Cobalt a little "clunky."

It must just be marketing power or something, because no one I know has ever heard of Shark, but they've all heard of Ashlar-Vellum.. But now at least I know where it came from!! :)

LOL!

Punch Software marketing?! A total lack of it!:rolleyes:

Don't go there!!

All of us, on this forum, at one point or another have offered to be Tim's marketing department. Each has failed miserably! A real shame, because I would guess that most here would love to help out. As for Ashlar, my old university still use Coblat. They too have never heard of Shark. I think they would cream if they knew what was coming in SFX v7.

Lol! :) understood.

gotta admit, I love what I'm seeing so far as a new user to Shark FX. Absolutely ecstatic to see what's coming in the future!! Any rough idea when this new version will be commercially available? Is there a new-feature list available somewhere out there?
