In a recent model, I have all the parts on individual layers which are so named as the part. For example, the layer name would read "right panel" because the part shown on that layer is a right panel.

How do I model-to-sheet so that the layer name (i.e. also the part name) is made visible on that part-page? Without having to type it in anywhere manually?

Please help. Thank you.

Also would be nice if: changing dimensions of object would "live update" dimensional change in model-to-sheet.

i.e. shortening the length of a cube would reflect the dimension line changing accordingly in the model-to-sheet page.

Hi

Did you try using the smart dimension tool to dimension so you get updates when changing geometry?

Where are you looking for the name to appear? Can you explain a little more what you are looking for?

Hi, no I didn't use smart dimension... perhaps I should have tried that first. Thanks.

For the other issue, when creating a model-to-sheet, I'd like each part labeled at least somewhere on the page that it's on so I know what it is.. The piece of furniture I'm working on has a lot of panels that are similar in shape and size but need are not easily recognizable or easily differentiated when seeing them by themselves.

What I have done is put each part on it's own layer and named the layer as the part. Now my question is, once I model-to-sheet, how can I get the page that part is on to reflect the name it's been given. Basically, the modeled parts and the layer they are on share the same name. All I need is the model-to-sheet data to show this too. Any ideas?

Thanks!
