I am a new user of Viacad version 6. I have made a drawing of an airplane
and would like to export it out as a DWG/DXF File but it will not do so. I have made it as a solid. I can not find any errors, but there must be some. I can not find any help in the book that came with the program. Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you can offer.

John Nelson

PS. I have solved my own problem it was how I done the wing tips.
Thanks for your help.

HI,John

Can you post the files?
If not what version of dxf/dwg did you try and what units are you using? What did you open the dxf/dwg file in after you exported it from ViaCAD? Are you on mac or pc?

Thanks for your reply.I would be sending the file to Turbocad Pro version 8 that I have used for a number of years. I was going to export it in R12 which I had done ok a few times before. I redrew the airplane again and tried to do a better job but it comes up with an error. I have attached the file. Please remember that I am on the bottom rung of the learning process. There are some things that can be improved on.
Thanks
John Nelson

PS I am not sure about the upload.
I am using XP Pro PC

HI, John

What error are you getting one in ViaCAD? or when you import the dwg into TC right? Try exporting from ViaCAD using R13 ,R14 and R2000 version of dwg and see if they work. I think TC v8 could read dwg v2000 but it might only be R14. It might be that 3d solid from Viacad cannot be read by the older TC. You could also try iges export out of ViaCAD and then see how TC v8 does with that.

Hi Jason,
The error is in ViaCad. When you click on the export file it run then stops and comes up with DXF/DWG export error. Is there instructions on uploading a file on the forum?
Thanks
John
