I feel this is a bug. Could someone confirm this. I want to rename the default views under "View Properties..." If I am wanting the change the view default view name to something of my choosing I should be able to.

Sorry, We dont allow you to change the default view names. They are hardwired between all user files. (Same as default line styles). Only with user defined views can you change their names

Tim, that they're hardwired is understood.

I think this amounts to a request to be able to rename views to one's preference.

Ie: In marine design, we might use the term 'profile' or 'y station' or port / starboard for side ... bow and stern for front and back

In architecture, top is aways a 'plan view', and all other views are named as 'north elevation', south elevation etc

In product design, drawings from 'top' are often also labeled 'plan view'

'Left Side' and 'Right Side' are unhelpful .. as they are entirely dependant on a direction in X

For example:

In automotive design, convention has the vehicle facing right with the front wheel at x,y = 0,0.

In Ship building (not yachts) .. it faces left .. with the rotate point of the rudder through x=0 (.. waterline at z=0)

Larger road vehicles also face left as I understand

In preferences, Concepts allows for 'default' or 'aerospace' .. I think we can do better than that !

The view names being hardwired allows does not allow for customization of your startup, but users can set a default startup drawing.

This will allow for a user to not only set his startup view, but pen styles, text styles and such.

-open a new drawing
-set everything the way you would want the software to launch...IE text and pen styles....view
-save the file as startup.dat in the ViaCAD folder

C:\Program Files\Punch! Software\ViaCAD\StartUp.dat for example

This will save your settings and become your new startup settings
