I made a very simple file : 2 small bolts with threads.
Setting the solid resolution to "super fine" before saving makes a 4.8 Mb file.
Setting it to "fine" makes a 1.4 Mb file.
"coarse" makes a 0.8 Mb file.

Do we have to save all facets information in the file ?

Anyway, it could be a tip to reduce file size before uploading

Since facets are so very critical to file size .. and filesize is an issue with many models

.. and my disk is full again ..

.. perhaps there should be a checkbox for "save facets" in the Save Dialog

??

Turn off the "Save Display Lists" in the File:Preferense:Filing dialog box.

Thank you Tim,
I turned the display list off and it's much better.
Still, as mentionned before, there are a few hidden Mb.

Open any file with CU.
Display a lot of things on the screen.
Export to a CU file with "selected only" BUT with nothing selected.
As expected, it makes an empty file.

Then, check file size : over 1MB...
Nothing should come out of nothing

On the finder, the thumbnail is a complete view of the inexported file.
Maybe it should only show what is inside : nothing!
