Hi all,

I'm currently trying to import a large STEP file (241,9 MB). After some time SharkFX crashes without further notice. Well, all other applications (IronCad and PolyTrans on PC, FormZ and SharkFX on Mac) fail to import this file, too. On the PC, the 32-bit memory limit is exceeded, but on Mac I currently don't see a reason why this file MUST fail.

The file seems to contain about 19.233 objects (two more or less possible). Do either SharkFX or ACIS (as a component) have any limitations that prevent the file from being opened?

ASICS is still 32-bit, so that might be the problem. Can you get the person who is supplying the STEP file to divide it into a few smaller groupings and then import those individually onto different layers so that not everything is active and visible ?

Today I sent 7 crash logs to Tim.
My file was 85 Mb and it crashed at any memory demanding operation : boolean, trim, copy and paste...
Message (when any) was "Free store overflow..."

Before crashing, I could see display troubles when changing layers : some elements appearing in wireframe.

I think I know the file size limit now...

(My Macpro has 14 Gb memory)

Well, obviously there is a 64-bit version of ACIS. Autodessys uses this with FormZ 64. Currently I've choosen the "client is to split large file" version, but anyway, I'd be interested in what SharkFX is able to handle, regarding file sizes, object numbers etc.
