Didn't see any mention of this on a quick search of the forum:

Just a little bug - when in 3D mode, I can see the check mark next to 'Show Axis' in the View menu. When I go to 2D, it doesn't show.

The Show Axis check is visible in both 2D and 3D. Toggle the show axis off/on once and it should appear.

I've gotten mixed results - I think that the longer the application is open, the less chance that the intended behaviour remains. I'll report back if I can get a fix on this perception! Thanks!
