Fantastic!!!

I noticed that the Gripper did not scale selected points of surfaces so I fixed that in the next upload.

Terrific guys !!

Tim - is there a way to define your "putty primative" to have a set number of control points

For example, say I'd like to "putty model" a cartoon head by starting out with a sphere of say 8x8 control points ... or a car by starting out from a block of 10x10 points

Incredible.

Tim, you should add a screencast like that to the main sales page to show of what Shark can do as a free form modeler.
Shark FX 9 build 1143
OS X 9.5
3.6 GHz Core i7, 8GB, GTX 760 2GB

Tim very interesting!!!. Tim, did you notice that Antoine took the scale tool for the wings. (not the gripper)

Yes, which tipped me off to scaling of selected points was not working with the Gripper. This is fixed in 963.

You can transform selected points in 963 now?

This is an excellent tutorial btw.

... but you can't define the number of points you start with ?

- this would make such modelling in Shark / VC truly useful !

jol.
Isn't that covered by the Elevate Surface tool?

Say I want to start with 4x4 points

... how can I do that ?

Sorry jol, I should have read your post more carefully. I understand what you want now, but in my haste took it to read that you were looking for more points, rather than a specific number.
I was going to then suggest the Knot tool as you can enter a number across a surface but I'm sure you've already tried that one!

Yep - this is all great stuRf - but it's not truly useful until you can define a starting primitive in terms of exactly how many hulls and 'control vertices' it has

For windows, get PolyCAD. For creation, subdivision and rebuilding of surfaces, any setup you like. Doesn't do any of Tim's trick transforms, but exports IGES surfaces to your spec that slip backwards/forwards into VC/Shark like natives.

You are right!!!

Combined with a symmetry constraint for the control points we would have a perfect match to the otherwise quick interface of the product line.
Having it for solid body surfaces as in the NX-Example would be nearly crazy cool!

In the moment some other packages are even quicker for conceptual work especially related to free surfacing.

NX modelling capabilities and ease of editing look very interesting. Does anyone have an idea on price?

hello all,

Everyone wants to see the tools of surface modification in Shark improved.

..... I see references to software polyhedric, example: Sketchup, C4D, 3DS, etc. ....

I think there are still people who confuse: surface modeling, volume modeling and polyhedric modeling....

Take a sphere.

sphere surface: model to sheet ---> ok / with radial dimensions ----> ok
sphere volume: model to sheet ---> ok / with radial dimensions ----> ok
--- but ---
polyhedric sphere: model to sheet ---> ok / with radial dimensions ----> NO

polyhedric sphere looks smooth ... but in reality it looks like a ball Football, with facets.

http://screencast.com/t/kWoTj99LC

the ideal: to give Shark tools for surface modifications ultra smooth and precise (like C4D, Maya, SketchUp, etc.), but with the modes of surfaces and volumes.

Solid Thinking is a good example in my opinion.
