I'm having the same problem I had about a week ago. VC7,Xp
It Started with no 3D and then no 2D. Last time I reset all to factory defaults and restarted the computer and that did the trick. Not so lucky this time.
See attached.

I opened Via cad as a different user in my user accounts "Windows ops" and it works OK as a different user.

But in my personal account 2D is working but 3D isn't today so I'll keep working with a different user account.

I ran into some similar issues earlier this year. What I found was that whenever my laptop went into hibernation mode, that seemed to be the trigger for those problems. It was as if Hibernation Mode was somehow corrupting VC related files and settings.

I changed the Power Management options and turned the Hibernation Mode off. Since then, I've not had any of those issues.

I may be way off base and your issue may be completely different, but it could be worth checking out.

But then again, I've long suspected my "Dell From Hell" has been haunted.

Hi mlochala
I have the Hibernation Mode switched off. I wondering if it has something to do with the operating system reason being it the program works if I log on as a different operator.
Thanks for reply it might help another user.
