I'm growing very eeary of deleting curves, copying and replacing them, and playing investigator ehen one or more curves refuse to accept a coincident or some other constraint.

I've wasted the past several hours trying to figure out why this happens to me. I have some vertical curves that are spacers and references between deck levels. I had 6 others representing plate thickness. If I edit the height position, curves attached to the constraints will make the curves inside the hull go up or down, making an attached surface that is then projected as a solid deck plate go up and down.

I can't even get this to process. It's so infuriating that SOME of my efforts go well, then out of the blue, the app tells me screw you. I'm not sble to see what's the problem.. I manually snap to endure coincidence even before I splly the coincident constraint. No joy, sometimes.

I managed to fix some of them, but one is performing POI — Perversity of the Inanimate.

If there's some kind of count limit, no such message appears. If there's a minimum separation, there's nonsich message.

I delete the suspected bad curves then recreate them, check the Entities tree, find sketch errors and can't fix them, delete them from the GUI and recreate them, purge them via Compact, save the fine, close and reopen it, and STILL.

I could scream. There is no logic, and it's maddening to be humming along only to enforced to troubleshoot for hours.



The Constraints tool needs a better brain, and it needs to acknowledge that a user is neurotically, manically doing the insane: doing something over and over and expecting a different, better result.

Just decided to forego using constraints for this oiece of the effort.

Deleted SIX curves, and find out there are more unresolved links for doing that. Now, 31 surfaces, 155 solids, and 100 lines, AND THEY WEREN'T INVOLVED with those lines.

This is wearying and discombobulating to have to keep doing halves of whatever is there...

Hi Zero,

So if fact this is your problem:

Just put the file (or another example if it's a secret drawing) so we can visualize and solve it.

The horizontal blue curves on the left are to act as midpoint be midpoint constraint constrained to the vertical orange curves. As currently shown, they just are the deck plate midplane.

The orange curves represent the deck plate thickness. The would be driven by a dimension constraint, manually bset, not needed to be changed often or at all.

The green, cyan, yellow (and others not in view) double line curves are to attach to the orange curves at their own respective altitudes. These would be coincident constraint constrained.

Originally, the singled blue horizontal curves were doubled and the orange curves were to be coincident constraint constrained. Around this stage, it seems over constraining may be a cause.


The blue vertical curves are the height of the deck spacing, or face-to-face clear height.

Variously, I can get only so far adding constraints, then the "Curves not planar" dragon starts flaming me.

In the hull the deck plates curves there would have been on the centerline (like the others, or Y=0), but SharkCAD constraints rejected my attempts.

If that had succeeded, I sould not have gone the route of terminating the deck curves at the hull insides, and I would instead have projected against the hull with Project Curve Surface. (But, since my hull isn't fair(ed), that route would generate several segments of splines, which are not suitable for attaching surfaces that would be swept.

These deck curves are doubles, and a surface face would be created in them, then be One Rail Sweep Solid swept to terminate against the inside of the shelled hull.

Hi Zero,

Exactly not what I mean.
Attach your drawing file(s), viacad files, sharkcad files (SFX), save or export it as an old V10 so everyone can open it.
Like I do now.
