hi ,

i know my first post here but i don't find the right answer :-(

i have a 3d printer and my daughter ask to print her name in 3d

So i thought to do it with viacad

so i make the text in 2D but i can't get it at 3D

please can someone tell me the right steps ??

Hi Helmut.

1. Using the text tool write your text.

2. Select all,

3. Then go to the menu bar at the top and choose "Edit" and "Change object type".

4 Choose "convert to curves".

Your text should be now ready to edit, and extrude, using the extrude tool.

PS, you can change your font in the inspector window too.

You can also directly extrude text with the Extrude tool.

Please see the short video and be sure to use the Vector option to ensure the extruded letters all go the same way, as this is determined by which direction the curves in the text were drawn.

Also see how changing the font updates the solid.
