I learned something new this hour which may be in the user manual.

Note: I'm on SharkCAD 12.0.0 1592 Powerpacked.

I created a mesh and added edge loops and several more edge loops, then some insets.

Then, I drag-copied it and converted the copy to an acis solid.

Growing tired of selecting Deep Select as an icon/button, and not seeing Deep Select on the contextual right-click menu I on a lark clicked on "Show Points".

It showed a face(t). I colored it and tried more faces to see if more individual faces could be selected vs the whole solid and w/o needing to use Deep Select.

Note: I had to use the Pen tool, not the Inspector Attributes Color picker. I didn't need to hit "Apply" for the color to take.

It kept working.

It's kinda hit or miss. Sometimes, I can immediately get the face. Other times, I have to get close to the edge or right in the center, and sometimes, try several times. Once, I inadvertently selected two faces (ine in background, not apparent to me what I was doing) that acquired a color I applied.

This works on faces whether pulled or not pulled away from the main body.

Tried other random things like Extrude Solid, Thin Extrude, and that let me grab specific faces like faces and inset-like faces.

Not sure if this is an undocumented feature or if it's in the for-sale manuals/tips/tricks books.

Note: if after you pen color change colors but then you use the Attributes Color and hit "apply", then go "oops, need to Undo", and to hit Edit, Undo, the colors you applied before any save will revet to the base color if the object. That's be my findings in trial and error.

Cheers!

Interestingly, and, undesirably, deep select and translate of a face will move the whole solid.

But, what will work is use of Extrude Solid. I also used One-Rail Sweep Solid.

But, what will cause an ACIS Error "Model parameter error:Thin Extrude_43789 : Layer Layer1 (in my case) is doing a deep select on a face in the solid, then using rhe Extrude Solid tool to attempt to pull a face in some direction. This happened with a reference curve (for the "Select open curves to extrude by vector") having a starting endpoint of Y=0 and an ending distance of Y=0.

The error also happened if I repositioned the curve to start at the edge of the deep selected face.

But, Extrude By Distance works for me.

Unfortunately, using Stitch to combine the new extrusion with the original solid removes the oer-face pen-color changes.

Actually, of three assigned and file-saved and closed/reopened, only one color was preserved.

Also, what destroyed two of the three colors is Deep Select drag and sngle modify of randomly tested faces

At least Undo restored the colors. In some cases, I think I had to close without saving, then reopen the file.

A bonus in all this is I learned that to overcome my issue with curves and solids changing angles on me, just build a solid or a mesh and edit to needs.

Now, I need to:

— learn how to mirror mesh features to not need to rely on scale.
