possible?, add this parameter in the render window?

DPI: 72, 150, 300, etc

Hi Antoine,

I've had quite a few requests to add a DPI setting. However, the width and height are currently displayed as pixels. What do you think if we went with a width/height in inches/mm and a DPI setting?

Suggestions and feedback would be very welcome from all.

I prefer to have both the height/width DPI option and the pure pixel resolution setting. Similar to photoshop, the 2 setting types auto update when the other is modified.

No, no, dont take away the pixel dimensions!

It is logical for a rendering and/ or screen capture to refer to the number of pixels. Pixel based photos are in pixel values. Fo the same reason digital cameras operate with pixel values, photo databases do the same and so on.

If you do want to relate to dimensions in mm or inches and link with a dpi value open the file in a photo editing program and adjust as you like. Dont confuse the fact that the optimal resolution you need for different use of a photo basically means the effective final visible size will be media dependent for the same original. If you want to use a render for print you will be better off converting to cmyk and adjusting to the proper dpi setting later on anyhow as I guess renders still will be rgb..

I dont mind there beeing a pull down menu though, but do not take away the pixel values, that would just not make any sence!

after rendering, I will give Photoshop for my image, a resolution of 300 dpi for printing and archiving printer.

also exemple with C4D

If SharkFX can make a rendering already configured DPI, it would be more practical and faster.

I agree with Gary. This approach works well, as users can alter whatever metric they want, and see the effect to the rest of the measurements instantaneously.
