it's been so long since I've used the new (v11) lofting along a center line tool, forgot where the tool is found. would someone be good enough to remind an old guy where to find his lost tool?

thanks

It's on surface cover or something like that. It's then on the pop out menu

Hello Art

Attached is an image where the Loft with Guide curves is located (not a centerline).

FYI, I had to update the tool to support composite groups today, so that will be in the next build 1507....

are you going to update Shark Cad Pro v11 as I have asked about this with problems I have had with Catalina its still build 1441?

as v12 is not in a stable position being Alph/Beta I won't do any proper drawings in it as advised

Tim-

thanks! thought you added a center line lofting tool in v11......? great news more tools are getting the composite curve upgrade; looking forward to seeing 1507! v12 is shaping-up nicely.

Not a loft, but a Skin Centerline tool....

Tim-

thanks again; exactly what I was remembering incorrectly! keeping the surface tools straight for some reason continues to be a challenge for me; probably because I don't use them often enough. that said, clearly another outstanding candidate for the composite curve update...................

Thanks for bringing up, please let me know other areas where we need to add!

here's a list of likely targets for inclusion of your composite curve upgrade. I've attempted to delete already demonstrated tools from the list. others should check the list for completeness and to make sure I haven't missed an already demonstrated tool. great new functionality; thanks!!

Net Surface - any or all of M curves
Guide Cover Surface - any or all curves AND guide curve
Two Point Revolved Surface - any or all curves
Extrude Surface - any or all curves to be extruded
One Rail Sweep Surface - curve to be sweep AND rail
Two Rail Sweep Surface - curve to be sweep AND both rails
Guide Loft Surface - guide curve

One Rail Sweep Solid - rail curve
Two Rail Sweep Solid - both rail curves
Guide Skin Solid - guide curve

Points Along Curve - curve

here's another tool for inclusion of your composite curve upgrade:

Infinite Plane Along a Curve

"N" equally spaced infinite planes normal to the composite curve would be a huge step forward. in addition to the "N" equally spaced infinite planes normal to the composite curve, addition of infinite planes at the beginning and end of all arcs would be perfect for lofting!! surfaces with with an enclosed area constraint that varies along the curve need to be done by hand.......

thanks

The magnet tool will snap a plane normal to a curve if you need a work around for a bit?

I think if I remember right picking one plane along a curve puts it at one end. I think if you flip the curve direction and apply one plane to curve it goes on the opposite end

UGMENTALCASE-

thanks for your "work around" input! at this point the "Infinite Plane Along a Curve" composite curve upgrade is more about effort and quality. worst case today I "ungroup" the composite curve components and use the existing "Infinite Plane Along a Curve" tool. spacing isn't uniform along the composite curve when it's put back together (ie: more stations end up being done to assure maximum spacing) AND the Excel operator has to be a least doubly careful with the variable spacing to keep the distance from the design end correct.............. the project I'm working on requires on the order of 200 stations/sections to be created meaning small changes can have a profound impact on quality and effort required !!!
