Please give us a tool to divide a sphere surface in some polygons. This Polyhedrons are very nice geometrical solids. Very important are also the Platonic Solids. The polygons can be spherically or flat. A example of a polyhedron is also a soccer ball. But it is mainly needed for very nice domes.

Can you not use MESH SPHERE? Plenty of options for mods in there?

Yes if you reduce the numbers in the boxes you can create some shapes

Quite narrow-spectrum tool for a general CAD modelling program. There's a quite inexpensive and very elegant dedicated software to create planar and stellated polyhedra, called Stella, https://www.software3d.com/Stella.php. Does flattened layouts for foldups too.
thanks 2 users thanked murray for this useful post.

only rings and sections, thats useless. Please watch my Dodecahedron. This is the only way to split a shere in same parts, the 12 pentagons. All other polyhedrons are only possible with different parts.

@murray: Thank you for the information i will test it. Edit: it is very impressive!

Know somebody the right name of a Geodesic surface? I have seen how this glassroof made in the year 1999. Very impressive.
