Are subdivision objects only visible in Shaded view?

I want to see them in wireframe. What am I doing wrong?

If you select the bit, and go to inspector and type in a value for U and V, it should show up lines as a grid on the subd part so you can see it?

Ok thanks but I tried this and can't seem to locate a field for its U and V.

I've attached three files to show what it looks like:

1. Selected Shaded Mode (visible)
2. Selected Wireframe (visible)
3. DE-selected Wireframe (not visible)

Where should I be looking please?

Thank you.

Off the top of my head, click on the display tab next to where you are, and I think it's in there

Maybe the color of the edges match the background color?

Sorry, no I am still unable to find the U and V. I am using VC Pro 10. Could it be somewhere else?

*Edit: didn't see Digitalphasers answer until after I posted this. Its fixed now. Thanks both.
