My main motive for upgrading VC to Shark was more advanced surface modeling tools.

However, it did not help me to speed up the process. I modeled a box for capsules. Guide Cover Tool would be an ideal solution for a convex square cover. But... I spent an hour trying to create a cover with guides. I checked splines for possible problems like gaps etc..., but the surface did not even closely match the curves. To make sure that I'm doing the right thing, I created a test scene. Guide Cover Tool make a topologically more correct surface than Net Surface Tool. But the form of the object is absolutely incorrect.

If I even do something wrong. Why is it so difficult?

With other "advanced" tools is not more better. Disappointment.

The converting of object created with Guide Cover Tool to Spline Surface is shocked me. Editing is absolutely impossible.

Converting to mesh. Sometimes I need to do a retopology for WebGL or same things. If I need it, then the NetSurface(green) is more attractive.

Do you want to share the spline-work ... and describe better what you're ideal result would be

I'm sure we can help

I think the cover surface with guide makes thinks odd. I think it follows a tangent or takes an average of the curves. Dunno.

Maybe you are better off with guide skin surface using points at the peaks. See result. The net surface works well too.

Thanks for the help. Now I'm not talking about a specific project. I always had problem with this tool. In most projects Cover w/G feature was not in demand due to low accuracy.
Let's look at a concrete example. I purposely took a few exaggerated form. But I assure you that such shapes are very common in packaging design etc...: portable flexible speakers, spectacle cases, silicone bicycle seat and more more other semi-organic shapes.

Yes, I know. If I change the smoothness of curves (better remove half of points :)), then the cover will take their shape. But this will not correspond to the original form of the object. I'm talking about it. In this case program decides what the form of the object should be. I want the opposite. More precision and flexibility will not be a hindrance.

Another incomprehensibility. I experienced many the ways but I was not able to cover this frameworke.
Has anyone the desire to try? :)

You need to understand that the wireframe is not correct due to the small vertical lines. Take a look at what I need using a point too with the net surface. I extended the curves into peaks at the bottom and then you can trim those peaks with another surface that goes across.

Thank you @rockyroad_us. But... Anyway, I can not do it. Can you please attach shark file?

As stated - not all of those lines can be 'hard'

Which are critical ?
