Could the Split Solid tool accept a curve as a sectioning surface profile just as the Trim Solid tool does? It would be a huge timesaver.

Yes, I also support this request.
+ I would like the split tool to optionally work like the trim = remove one side. (delete a part isn't a good option for history)

Basically, as someome previously mentionned (maybe Jol:rolleyes: ) split and trim should be the same tool, with options.
