Convert some numbers to curves and export as a DXF and then import back into ViaCAD. I find various sections missing from these numerals.

Thanks.
Martin.

Hi, Martin

What version of dxf did you use. What font are you using? When you changed to curves was it a mix of splines and lines? You can use convert 2 times on the same numbers and that can give you all polylines.

Is it the splines sections that are missing?

Hi Jason.
Sorry for the lack of initial info - I was in a bit of a rush.
I've just noticed it affects text as well - I thought it was only numerals at first.

DXF v 2000 saved as mm units, but it does the same in DXF v 2009 as well.

Font is Arial, size 48mm.

Yes, the splines are lost out of the Group of splines and lines when exported.

XP sp3 and ViaCAD v833.

Thanks for your attention, Jason.

Martin.

Martin.

Is it possible that you do not have a DXF folder in you install folder of ViaCAD?

Tim.
I do have a DXF folder with 3 files in it.
00tmp (ACIS ASCII 2kb),
01tmp (ACIS ASCII 2kb) and
adinit (DAT File 255kb).

Is that what you need?.

Are you sure about that Jason, 'cos it's all to hell here?
Checked it in ViaCAD and my CAM program - same in both.

Thanks.
Martin.

HI, Martin

I used inches and it was ok, the mm does as you describe. It seems like the splines are not scaled correctly on import back into ViaCAD, when you pick mm as the file units.
They seem 25.4 times bigger than they should be.
If I open the dxf in AutodeskTrueView its ok.

Jason, good catch! Repeated here as well. Some of the spline types are written out as ACIS data into the DWG file format. I need to make sure to tag this ACIS data as MM.
