This is probably one which is totally obvious, but how is it possible to reposition the axis (which is currently set at 0,0,0)? I've imported a dxf file of a layout of a house and extruded upwards. Now I want to import another dxf to lay down the ceiling and the 1st floor. After that, the 1st floor layout and so on. Do I need to make a new work plane, and if so, how does one go about that? Tom

Either you are all really hard at work, or no one uses ViaCAD! So? Any takers?? :)

Hi Tom,
The global coordinate system is fixed. You can reposition the work plane but that only impacts plane dependent geometry when it gets created. Would be interesting to have a transform or import into workplane.
Importing DXF files put everything into new layers. So I think you will need to import, isolate layer, then move the data to the position you need.

Yes. It would be a very useful addition especially as ViaCAD seems to have new architectural tools. What I was doing was recreating a house for a 3D VR project, with each floor having a different layout drawn in Macdraft and QCad and then imported into ViaCAD via the normal dxf route.
I can get round the problem, but it is awkward, as I would have to use the entire outline of the building, extruded to its highest point, then would have to cut each floor out individually- if you see what I mean?
In the meantime, what screen capture software did you use in that example you uploaded before (sorry for the OT).

But I don't have Shark! (yet). :) edit; It's irrelevant anyway because it seems that anything larger than 1 to 2mb's I can't upload to this forum anyway :( It's probably got something to do with being in the United Kingdom and Punch being in the United States!
